Hi, I'm glad you're here!

My name is Jennifer — my friends call me JenniLu — and I'm the founder and CEO of MyBeacon App. I'm excited to tell you about the social action network launching soon. (You can sign up here for early access.)

Social and emotional loneliness can be one of the most debilitating experiences we as human beings can go through, and unfortunately, it is largely hidden and out of sight. Often times asking for help can make us feel weak, when in fact, we are all so much stronger when we work together.

This became so very apparent to me when my husband died unexpectedly in October 2018.

After his death, everything felt so chaotic I could hardly function. One day I was a “go-getter” and proudly carried the torch of being a successful, independent woman… the next day, I could hardly take a shower on my own. I resorted to list-making. Picture a wall full of post-it notes, each one with a “to do” item. That was how I survived and kept my sanity.

But I was one of the lucky ones. My house quickly became a rotating door of visitors – friends, family, and an extended network reaching out – everyone wanting to know how they could help. But I didn’t know how to ask for or tell them, what was needed. Sheryl Sandberg said it best in her book Option B; when someone is going through hardship, you need your community to “Just Show Up.” And boy, did my village “Show Up.”

Visitors started seeing these post-its stack up and started “claiming” them. I remember one morning walking into my home office and seeing almost all of the post-it assigned to someone with a name written in marker. I didn’t have to do it all on my own. My people just showed up and took action. I realized then that they just needed the visibility to understand what I was dealing with.

My village just needed

the visibility to understand how to support me.

Once the fog lifted, I started hunting for an app that could provide the same basic experience. I didn’t want to post a laundry list of tasks on social media or manage group threads, DMs, texts, etcetera for the little things that were piling up. To my surprise, I couldn’t find one.

The more people I talk to, the more evidence surfaces that this is a gap; and so, I’ve been on a mission to design a solution that works for everyday life and helps humans show up for each other. MyBeacon App launches soon and we are excited to work with any and all luminaries who want to help us chase away the darkness by lighting up our beacons! Sign up for first access.
